Step One provides Drug and Alcohol testing and compliance programs for the Department of Transportation. The Department of Transportation consists of the following 5 entities:
- Federal Aviation Administration
- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- Federal Railroad Administration
- Federal Transit Administration
- Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration
- United States Coast Guard (Now joined with Department of Homeland Security)
The Department of Transportation requires that all safety sensitive employees test for Pre-Employment, Random, Post Accident, Reasonable Suspicion and Return to Duty. An employee must have a negative pre-employment test result on file before they can be DOT qualified. All DOT testing must include a standard 5 panel test.
Non –DOT Testing:
Step One offers a wide variety of non regulated testing. These services include urine, hair, nail and saliva testing. Non regulated testing can be performed as a standard 5 panel or it can incorporate prescription drugs to be a 10 panel test. Almost any drug can be tested for if specifically requested. Most drugs in urine testing can be detected for about 72 hours, with the exception of marijuana which can be roughly 4-8 weeks.
Hair testing offers a much longer history of drug exposure than urine testing. Head hair must be approx 1 ½ inches in length and covers 90 days. Body hair, at any length, will cover approx 12 mos. Hair testing is done as a standard 5 panel test, but if specifically requested, can be done as a 10 panel test. Head hair is cut at the scalp of the head and is testing the root end of the hair. Body hair is cut/shaven closets to the skin.
Nail testing is the newest methodology for drug testing. Nail testing covers a time period of 30 days six months prior to the test. Nail testing is done as a standard 5 panel test, but if specifically requested, can be done as a 10 panel test. Fingernail clippings are the preferred method for this test, but if length does not allow, can be shaven in a safe and pain free sample collection.
Alcohol testing can be useful for employers, courts, parents and other people. Alcohol testing can determine if a person is under the influence within the past hour with a breath alcohol or saliva testing. Results for this can be obtained within minutes. Urine alcohol testing (ETG) can detect alcohol use within the past approx 80 hrs. Results for this test can be obtained within 2-3 bus days.
Step One can provide you with nationwide, reliable, state-of-the-art testing at an affordable price. Painless and non-evasive tests are preformed at our office or through a network of satellite collection facilities nationwide. DNA Paternity tests are performed with a buccal swab obtained through saliva and cells in your mouth. Results are usually available within 3-5 business days. Additional DNA Services:
